New York, NY -- August 1, 2006 -- British rockers Gomez will return to North American shores this September for their first appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Friday, September 22. Gomez will perform material from their critically acclaimed album How We Operate (ATO Records) which not only hit the #1 spot on the National Non-Commercial Radio airplay chart but whose powerhouse title track landed at #9 this week on Radio & Records AAA National Airplay chart.
In addition, Gomez joins Hasidic reggae singer Matisyahu this September for a string of dates and will join Mike Doughty for a co-headlining show in Sacramento. Gomez will also make a stop at Austin City Limits Music Festival to perform on Sept. 15, joining a lineup that includes Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Los Lonely Boys, Gnarls Barkley and The Raconteurs. Gomez will also co-headline a special late-night show with Guster after their ACL performance at Austin's La Zona Rosa.
Gomez's new album How We Operate has consistently been described as one of their finest albums to date by several critics including Entertainment Weekly, Billboard and NPR. Solidifying their reputation for transcendent live performances, Gomez shows have sold out on each leg of their 2006 tour in markets such as New York, San Francisco, Boston, Nashville and Boulder among others. Plans to release the second single will be announced in the coming weeks along with details for Gomez's fall U.S. headline tour.
